THAT SUMMER:MURDER AT CAMP SUMAC PART 2

Chapter 1 present day – Patrick

Patrick Adams paced the hallway outside the operating theatre waiting for his wife Carolyn to get out of surgery. She had been hit by a speeding car it and it was deemed as a hit-and-run. It was both very worried about how Carolyn would survive after the serious injuries and angry at the animal did this to her.

Just as she decided to sit down in one of the benches the doctor came out of the operating room.

“Mr. Adams?”

Patrick stood up and addressed the doctor “yes, that’s me. Is she okay?”

“She will be we reset her leg it was broken in three places and shall have to have a very long rehabilitation of were hopeful it will mend.

Patrick nodded “good, thanks. Can I see her?”

The doctor shook his head “not yet Sir. She’s in recovery the soon we are going to move her to a room. You can see her then. Give it an hour okay? Why don’t you go get some food you look like you could really use it.” The doctor patted Patrick shoulder in support.

“Yeah, you may be right. Okay here’s my cell number please text me when she settled in her room.” Patrick said as he handed the doctor his card

the doctor nodded and Patrick made his way to the cafeteria on the first floor. The doctor was rate a hearty breakfast would certainly help and would kill time until Carolyn was awake. He was surprised that he ate with gusto and drink a large coffee while contemplating how to tell the kids what it happened to their mom. He also wondered where the ass hat who had done this to his Carrie!

A minute later his cell was pinged.

Dr.: she’s a room and four West. these reports the nurse’s station for instructions.

Patrick discarded the waste from his breakfast and took us coffee with them. At the nurse’s station he announced his presence

the nurse nodded “come with me Mr. Adams. She’s in 401B is a board room with three other patients so please try to be quiet.”

Patrick nodded “fine thanks I just want to see her. In the room Carolyn was hooked up to an intravenous machine feeding her painkillers and nutrients. Her right leg was encased in a hard cast elevated slightly off the bed.

The nurse spoke up “she should come out of it soon to sit with her and talk to her and might help bring her around.”

“Thank you nurse.” Patrick murmured

“call me Amy. I’ll be here all day taking care of your wife.” As she said that she left the room abruptly with other patients to watch over

Patrick took a seat closest to his wife’s bed and reach for her hand. 20 minutes later she stirred he was still there.

Patrick noticed “Carrie? Are you okay hon?”

She spoke “where am I?”

“You’re in the hospital honey you had an accident.” Patrick explained

“what? um, who are you?” She said suddenly frightened.

“Carolyn it’s me Patrick?” He said trying to assure her.

Carolyn only shook her head “no sorry don’t know anyone named Patrick!”

Patrick that this was a really bad joke. “Sure you do. We’ve been married for 30 years. We have two great kids please tell me you remember that! He said frantically.

“No! Don’t get out of my room before I scream!” His wife fumed

not wanting to cause a disturbance Patrick only said “okay, fine. I’m just going to go get a nurse to help you.” Patrick left her side thinking what the hell!
