Confessions of a grown-up nerd

I am a self confessed book nerd! I started this habit at a young age while I hid from the neighborhood bullies. Needless to say I got a lot a lot of reading done. Beats the heck out of getting your lights punched out.

This love of books took me into my teens and after I got finished reading the whole Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew series I graduated to romance novels which only served to remind me that I had no life.  I started writing stories to entertain myself. I was always the heroine with a really cute boyfriend and a faithful dog to help me solve mysteries.

I grew up and forgot about the writing for a bit. Life happened and I went to college and I actually developed a “life”.  I didn’t start writing until I was a stay at home mom of a young child who was once again bored. Hence more stories and poems.

After marriage #1 ended I was too busy working and surviving to write. Then I met my second husband and again I had a life.

However I also had to deal with a raging anxiety disorder and teenage angst with feet and an attitude! Thus came sick leave from work, therapy and too much time on my hands I went back to writing and thats what brings me to present day with 4 published books, 5 kids and a grandson.

Karen Vaughan lives in Peterborough Ontario with her husband Jim and a cat named Sugar. She is the mom of a 24 year old daughter and four grown step children and a 4 year old grandson named Izak who could very well be smarter than a fifth grader. DEAD COMIC STANDING is her second novel. Her first novel DEAD ON ARRIVAL garnered praise from friends, family and online gamers. She also enjoys doing crafts and other hobbies. Her third book and sequel to DEAD ON ARRIVAL is called OVER HER DEAD BODY. DAYTONA DEAD is the third in that series and was released in May 2013. Other than writing Karen loves to read, do crafts and play online games. Currently she hosts an internet radio show called WRITERS ROUND TABLE since January the 14th 2014. She has a quirky sense of humor and shows this in her mysteries and her side hobby of stand-up comedy.
